The awesome adventures of my favorite 4 year old!

Last night Jones sat down with Bug and doodled this picture of him. I love the way He captured all of his nuances, like the way his hair sticks up in the back, and the way he holds his arms.

I think it was really fun for C to see his Daddy do something he loves to do everyday, color!

Long time no see

Oh Hello Blog.

Long time no see, thats because we have all been sick with the Stomach flu over here. 

It has been awful, but finally we seem to have made it through.

So I am back. Sort of.

I feel good today, but I am still resting since being sick took quite a toll on my body. 

The house is crazy, the kids are crazier.

So of course when I had a free moment I decided not to clean or sleep, but paint a picture of my niece of course!

Biscuit turns one next week and I thought a portrait would be a lovely way to celebrate.

I am a little self conscious about it. 

not quite sure why but it is probably because I come from a family of some pretty amazing painters and I don't usually paint like this.

I keep thinking 'I should add a little something here, or change this and that...'

but I probably shouldn't I should just let it be.

She is such a beautiful baby girl and I love her.

now to rock this crying baby to sleep so I can stop Tober from destroying everything, and then watch more TV on Netflix. Hopefully it won't be another week til my next post. :)

Peace

This is one of my favorite scriptures. This week I took it and painted it on a huge canvas, using this word document as my guide. It didn't quite turn out how I wanted, and I wish I had waited until I bought a stencil to do the lettering so that it looked more printed, but it does the trick. 

I may redo it one these days. :)

If I hadn't had the canvas I would have just printed the word document and hung that. This something that anyone with a printer and a Target $3 dollar Frame can do. I encourage those of you who might be feeling down, or need daily reminder to help pick em up, to make your own. It is a nice addition to the house.

Paper Tree

It has been far too long since I last blogged and now I am at the point where I am not sure where to start up again. I have a lot to say about my Grandfather's funeral  but that will have to wait for when I have the time to do the experience justice.

So We will start with my Mom coming to visit and some of the fun we have had since She's been here, like making my kids room look like a kids room.

This is an idea that had been forming in my head for a while but it wasn't until my mother in law made me a paper leaf wreath that I knew I was actually going to do it.

So here is my brown paper tree.



I bought a giant roll of post office brown packaging paper and with the help of my Mom crinkled and stapled it to the wall until we had a very awesome tree. I wish that I had a more creative solution, than using a staple gun but I didn't.

Then I took About 7-8 different kinds of scrapbook paper ad cut out various size leaves and stapled them to the tree in satisfying adorable bundles. {good trick, pick double sided paper}

I love what it does for there room. It adds that element of fun!



Next I have to make the japanese paper lantern I got from World Market into a Sun, and make a few paper birds and their room will be transformed!

Portraits

On saturday I made this frame for my craft room/office. It was the first time I had really made something in multiple weeks. I felt so good afterwards that I realized {once again} how much I missed making art and that it is so much more than a hobby for me. Just like some people need to excersize, I need to create. So today I made some over due family portraiture for the space above the ironing board.

So I started by printing out a full size image of C and then traced the outside lines of the image with a sharpie marker.

The Sharpie will bleed through the paper leaving the backside looking like this.

Next I cut the image out and traced the shape onto a 12x12 canvas.

I simply cut out the outside layer, traced it, cut the next layer, traced it and so on and so forth.

Then I took the tiniest paint brush in the world and jet black paint and went over my pencil tracings.

For fun I gave it a messy yellow border!

Now I still have to do one of Jones and myself and I will be able to look at the whole family while I make other works of art! what!
