For the Home

I wouldn't call it a Tutorial more like "look here's how I did it"

Ever since Christmas my Fireplace has been very bare,{well not bare, full of the random things that get put in places that dont have purpose} because I wasn't sure what to put there. I have always loved Anthropologie's cloth letters but for a price of 14.50 ea it would have cost me $120 to buy my new deco for the fireplace. Instead I decided to make my own, cheaper and more one of a kind.

First I took about 6 different left over fabrics with and with out prints and by hand drew the first letter. I then usd that letter as a guide for all the others to make sure the stayed the same size. You must cut 2 of each letter, a front and a back.

Put the front and the back of each letter right sides in and stitch around the edges, just remember to leave a hole for the stuffing. {also letters like A D P R and so on that holes inside the letter you'll have to sew the hole once it is turned right side out}

Then you'll want to flip it inside out and proceed to stuff it with batting, {i used on older pillow I had laying around}

Use a needle and thread to stitch up the hole.

And Voila!

You may notice I used different fabric on either side of my letters, this way I can flip them around and make them reversible, all except for the N can be turned around for a whole new look!

I would love to make some of these for the kids room, in a pretty soft grey, spelling their names, or spell out the word LOVE in a deep Red for our room but for now this is all for now.

I also went out and stole a branch from the tree out side and glued little paper flowers on it.
A look that can be done in many different ways, you could paint the branch, wrap it in ribbon, add cloth rosette flowers, the options are all awesome.

Earrings for sale

Latest Additions

Meet our new Salt and Pepper shakers, purchased on etsy from Myra Melinda, She sells little vintage treasures, just the kind of stuff I love.

Also if you haven't bought your easter candy yet, or even if you have, you need to try Hershey's Coconut creme filled kisses. Sooooo good.

I made some super easy to make Earrings similar to these, but my camera is not cooperating {it keeps turning itself off before I can get a good picture?} so good pictures and maybe a tutorial will just have to join the party later.

Dear Disney,

Thank You! For those of you who haven't check out RufflesandStuff yet, you should. Disney {the blogs owner} is the sweetest thing. She responded to one of my emailed entries to her contest, which was a total suprise. When I started this project I never expected to get the response that I did and I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for the positive reinforcement.

I am so excited {thanks to her email, and the latest episode of Project Runway} to sew some more things. Like buying some chiffon and going crazy on a t-shirt like this, or One project that I would love to complete would be to make stuffed letters for my harth, like these, very springy. I am thinking of doing the word HANDMADE. I broke my needle on my sewing machine yesterday so all projects are on hold for awhile but soon I will be back in buisness.

Maybe now Ican dedicate my time to having the cutest Easter Party ever.

Got NO money Saturday Activity

So we tried very hard not to spend any money yesterday but still go out and enjoy our very sunny Washington Saturday. Our formula of succuss goes as follows:

10 of KFC,

a long Car ride to a park
Blanket on the grass for Tober
Kite for Jones

Playground for Bugs

All of it for me :)

And in case you are wondering, yes, Bug did jump into a puddle of mud within 10 min. of gettng there, then he freaked out cause he was all dirty(he's a bit of dirt-o-phobe) So I cleaned him up, Unfortunately for him I only brought spare pants for his sister. So Yes he is wearing little girl pants.

Come Along for a Ride on the Crazy Train

Love me some Friday. My Jones gets off work early on friday which means we usually have a family fun day. On today's menu was Happy terriaky, How to Train your Dragon 3D, and a trip through Target. Great food, loved the movie, and Target is always a pleasure. Today however it was more than just a pleasure it was a train ride to a land of outdoor furniture and potted plants, gorgeous throw pillows and piggy banks.{they didn't have pictures of everything but trust me they are awesome, or dont check them out yourself~ Liberty of London} So many things to buy, beautiful wonderful springy things. This is why I call it the crazy train because I could easily spend a small fortune at Target but reality thank goodness reeled me in. But you know the really crazy thing is that its actually not that impossible. In fact although I cant go and buy all of these deliciosos at once I can gradually create this world for me and my family. So someday you will all be mine for now, I'll see you next time.

Sheeps

While searching the fabulous World Wide Web looking for a tutorial to make a tie, I stumbled upon this tutorial as well. I was excited because I already wanted to make some sheeps and now I knew how. The picture is gloomy but it actually factually turned out cute. Love me some easter sheep, Especially since the whole point after all is The Lamb of God. It's a cute and gentle reminder of what it's all about. while I was at it I made a cute little bunny for Tober. why not?

Maybe I am Crazy

I feel like I have been blogging a lot lately( more than Twice my usual amount) So I hesitated to blog about this but again as I have said before this is my form of journaling and these thoughts are important to me.

Do you ever feel like you push God's blessings to the max. I do. I feel like we have been blessed with so much lately, and that I don't remember deserving all this, while at the same time I desire more, how can that be possible?!? Our lease is up in 2 months and We thought when we signed it that we would be moving on to somewhere else but now that just feels greedy, like our place works lets just stick with it. I can't help it though when I see 3 bdr apts available for the same price we are paying now(for our 2bdr), and my crafts are taking over our dining room to feel like we need more space. I guess there is just part of me that thinks things can't stay good forever, and maybe I'll exceed my Blessings for the year, and it is only March, there is a lot of year left! If it sounds like I am waiting to be smacked down...thats because I am. When did I become so afraid? I know God loves me, I just also know that I am not perfect and that I want to be, and that usually means purification by fire, hot burning fire :)

Pip's here so I am off to the park, the weather is just gorgeous!

The looks

'Ruff' Around the Edges

Little Teal Riding Hood

Hugs and Kisses too

Painting the Roses Red

Photos by Hilary Hansen

I was really inspired by the flowers on the trees outside when I made these clothes, pretty much nature and a sweeter version of Lemony Snickett was the vibe I was following when I created these looks. My sister Pixie Shtick jump started it with helping me make the hugs and kisses jumper. From there the other looks just came to life. After all spring is the season that fairies comeout to play, is it not? There is something just a little bit whimsical about each look. I am so excited about them! I made almost everything except the accesories in the first one. Any Critique is appreciated before I send them in for the contest.
